Purpose

The purpose of this activity is to:
  • Guide the focus of your reading and analysis of the literature for your annotated bibliography.
  • Publish a provisional essay plan on your blog for the first assignment.

ICT Integration in Schools

GOAL
I am looking at ICT integration in schools and how varied this can be. We started this year with BYOD"s in two classrooms yr 5/6 and 7/8 students. This has not gone without issues both positive and negative. As a school we are also trying to integrate more ICT into teaching and learning throughout the classrooms.
I intend to focus on two models the 'Concerns-Based Adoption Model' (CBAM) and Rogers' 'Diffusion of Innovation' as these focus on the personal levels of teachers when a new innovation/change is being implemented.

THEMES
The main themes so far for me that I have been focusing on are real in my context and are at mainly two levels- personal and institutional.
Institution involves school infrastructure, resources, technical and professional support. The personal level is made up of teacher motivation, experience, beliefs, attitude and pedagogy.

QUESTIONS SO FAR
What are the key findings/themes when ICT is integrated into schools globally?

How are the personal level of teachers identified and monitored?

What do schools and other stake- holders do to support teachers?

So far from the research I have read, the common themes that are evolving are:

  • ICT integration is a extremely complex task
  • Teachers are at varying stages from nothing to innovative in ICT integration into classrooms
  • The teachers often are the making or breaking of ICT integration into schools.

  2. Thank you. Yes I always try to relate it well to my context so it is real and meaningful for me and I am not doing extra work with hours in the day that I don't have any left of:)
